GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
Mining
company working in the Pikeville area
on several mining sites is in search of General Superintendent to oversee
operations. The highlights of the position are as follows:

Oversee 5 mining sites (surface
only) within an hour drive radius with gas reimbursement
-
Total employees: 40+ employees
-
College education: preferred/not
necessary

Experience: 5+ Years mining
experience
Scope
The Superintendent provides site
management for all phases of the surface reclamation mining project including
coordinating workers, material, and equipment as well as ensuring that
procedures are being followed; work is proceeding on schedule and within budget
according to the work schedule and demands of the customer. The sites will
operate with the highest level of quality, urgency and that each site is a safe
workplace.
The morals, ethics and standards of the company and its employees are to be
reflected.
Responsibilities
The General Superintendent assumes a
wide range of responsibilities
in the process of managing, coordinating and organizing material handling
activities including, but not limited to:
Project Organization
-
Understanding of the contract and
scope of work, ensuring scope of work is clearly communicated to employees.

Ensuring each site is fully
staffed for operations and equipment utilization
-
Developing and communicating a 2
week look-ahead schedule.
-
Conducting regular progress review
meetings with employees to review weekly schedule and update accordingly
-
Understanding entitlements and
immediately notifying the Project Manager for changes and conditions.
-
Maintaining site files, supplies,
equipment, and services.
-
Meeting Production and Safety
objections
-
Attending all company/client
meetings.
-
Participate in developing a
cost-effective plan and schedules for staffing, equipment and mining support
for utilization of resources.
-
Maintaining cleanliness and
organization of the site office and throughout the site.
-
Providing on-site supervision for
all project personnel and phases of production, resolving complaints and
grievances with employees.
-
Reporting any challenges or issues
to the Project Manager/Executive Management in a timely manner.
-
Maintaining accurate as production
reports and all required mining training and documentation.
-
Keeping a daily log of site
activities on each site including by not limited to: staffing levels,
description of work, weather, and safety hazards or issues.

Expeditious completion of project
deficiencies.
Managing all aspects of safety on site
including:
-
Enforcing on site safety in
accordance with State of KY standards.
-
Overseeing on site safety meetings
with employees.
-
Reporting all accidents and
incidents promptly.
-
Ensuring site personnel have
required safety training and records are maintained.
Relationship Management
-
Maintaining a good working
relationship with all subcontractors and ensure they are treated fairly.
-
Maintaining professional conduct
at all times with owners, consultants, trades, suppliers and the public.
-
Developing good working
relationship with owners, management and clients.
-
Reporting progress to owners,
management and employees
-
Making realistic commitments to
the Project Manager/General
Superintendent, trades, owners and consultants.
-
Coaching and mentoring hourly
employees.
Qualifications:
-
Five or more years experience
assisting or supervising surface mine operations on multiple sites.
-
Ability to work under pressure and
coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to
achieve maximum efficiency.

Proficient MS Office and
Windows-based computer applications skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project,
etc.)

Excellent communication skills
