Vulcan Materials Company, the nation's foremost producer of construction
aggregates, has an immediate opening for a QC
Lab Supervisor at its Midwest division located in
Plainfield, IL.
|
|
Summary Description of Position:
|
|
Responsible for supervising at least two quality control technicians in
the Northern Illinois regions as well as assist in performing the
quality control testing and data analysis at two laboratories for 4
crushed stone operations with an average total production of more than 5
million tons. He/she shall possess strong passion, initiative,
motivation, assertiveness, maintain a positive “can do” attitude, and
sustain high ethical and moral standards. Develop workable solutions to
the plant and product issues and fulfill the division quality agenda for
the Northern Illinois region. This is accomplished by communicating and
collaborating with operations and sales regarding the following: process
and shipping capabilities, complaints, corrective actions, inventory
management, plant optimization, end product utilization and any change
in quality status based on operational changes that effect D.O.T.
quality status.

Education, Experience, Skills Required:
|
|
Education:
- Technical degree in Engineering, Mining, Geology or related industry
field, or equivalent working experience preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in engineering, mining, geology or
related field; Minimum 5 years of experience, no degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities;
- Ability to perform all QC Tech duties
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High degree of product knowledge and end-use applications
- Understanding of VMC quality information system
- Expert knowledge of the Illinois DOTs AGCS program
- Ability to obtain State certification(s) within one year of employment
- Must successfully complete 3-month probationary period
Physical
Requirements:
- Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices
is essential
- Must be physically able to work outdoors in all climate conditions,
walk up and down stairs, and lift samples of up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology
- Travel in area of responsibility as well as a periodic need to travel
by airline
- Must have current valid driver’s license
Mental Requirements:
- Must be exact in their work and able to present information in a clear
and concise manner.
- Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline oriented environment
that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
